Our Purpose
 
   
 

The work of The NGO Coalition for the Community of Democracies (NCCD) is to support  the Community of Democracies. The Community of Democracies (CD), a worldwide coalition of over 100 democratic nations formed in June 2000 in Warsaw, Poland that works to:

  • extend democracy's realm,
  • develop and improve democratic processes in its member nations, and particularly,
  • strengthen fledgling democracies.

 

We see the CD continuing to evolve into a cohesive and effective alliance, playing a principal role along with the United Nations and the International Criminal Court to accelerate and secure the coming of a sustained peace with freedom and justice to the grand society of human beings.

   

NATO , a regional association of democracies, has been entrusted with the responsibility and the power to prevent war and keep peace in its region.  Similarly, in its time,we see the Community of Democracies, a world wide association of democracies, entrusted with the responsibility and the power to abolish war and keep peace in our world.

The (NGO) Coalition for the International Criminal Court was highly effective in aiding the drafting and ratification of the statute for the International Criminal Court.  We believe that the NCCD can be as instrumental in supporting the evolution of the Community of Democracies into an ever more effective institution.

   

The NGO Coalition for the Community of Democracies was organized in order to engage a wide variety of concerned NGO's into active participation to support and encourage the work of the Community of Democracies as it:

1. Strengthens and improves democratic processes and facilities worldwide, especially in the fledgling democracies.

2. Facilitates the further extension of democracy.

3. Structure processes and facilities with which to protect fledgling democracies from overthrow by external aggression or by internal coup.
